Executive Summary:

At the July 27, 2021 City Council meeting, staff presented the attached Ordinance of the City of Hermosa Beach amending section 17.08.020 of the Hermosa Beach Municipal Code. As demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging technology allows professionals to conduct business with clients without the need for in-person visits. The proposed text amendment would allow the City to issue professionals home-based business licenses without the requirement to maintain a principal licensed office in a commercial zone. Following public hearing, City Council approved the introduction of the ordinance by the following vote:

Ayes:                     Councilmembers Jackson, Campbell, Armato, Mayor Pro Tem Detoy, and Mayor Massey

Noes:                                          None

Absent:                      None
